The biggest wish: enough to eat

Heat, dust, and parched fields … When harvests fail and hunger threatens, the people need help desperately. nac.today takes a look at the drought that has hit the Philippines.

Drought and failed harvests in the Philippines

The government in the Philippines reports about the disastrous consequences as a result of this year’s particularly long dry season. In some parts of the country there has been no rain for over six months caused by the weather phenomenon El Niño. The fields are parched and harvests have failed. Not only the peoples’ livelihood is threatened but also the people themselves.

The humanitarian aid organization of the Church in South-East Asia NAC SEA Relief has dispatched an emergency relief team into the disaster area led by Cris Ronquillo. Supported by eight New Apostolic congregations, the team managed to provide 510 affected families with food. The aid organization points out that these relief supplies are distributed to all people, regardless of their religious affiliation.

First conference of American District Apostles

For the first time, the District Apostles who work on the American continent met for a conference in Bogotá in Colombia. It took place on 8 April 2016 and was chaired by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, who was in South America for a week. Participants were the District Apostles Raul Montes de Oca (Brazil), Enrique Minio (Argentina), Leonard Kolb (USA), and Mark Woll (Canada), as well as the District Apostle Helpers Frank Dzur and John Sobottka from Canada and John Fendt from the USA. Chief Apostle Schneider used the opportunity to discuss issues that concern the South American District Churches.

The day after, the Chief Apostle met with the District Apostles and the Latin-American Apostles and Bishops. On the agenda were spiritual and administrative topics. The evening ended on a musical note with a string ensemble and Uruguyan folk songs performed by District Apostle Raul Montes de Oca and Apostle Segundo Pedro Marin Caceres.

A new website for 420,000 members

“Since Internet penetration in West Africa has gathered speed and the medium is being used more and more, it makes sense to present the Church in West Africa to the public via the Internet. The added benefit is that the local members have access to the reports as well as the latest information,” the New Apostolic Church Southern Germany explains, who is responsible for the 2,900 congregations in the West African country of Ghana. Starting immediately, information on our doctrine and the congregations as well as news can be found at http://nac-ghana.org. Additional websites are planned for the countries of Sierra Leone and Nigeria, countries that also fall under the New Apostolic Church Southern Germany.
