At home worldwide: from Cooper City to Cape Town

Living where other people spend their holidays … This is the case for many New Apostolic Christians too. Yet they do the same as everybody else and go about their daily lives. Following is a glimpse at the normal day-to-day life in three different District Churches.

Florida, USA

Florida, the Sunshine State … Already its nickname says it all. District Apostle Leonard Kolb visited the congregations in this southern state of the United States on the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2015. With him were the Apostles Reinhard Hecht, Miguel Angel Flores Cordóva, Segundo Pedro Marin Caceres, and Moratino Yepez. On Saturday the District Apostle met with the Spanish-speaking ministers and their wives in the Cooper City congregation. The District Apostle started the conference with a spiritual part, after which the Apostles Flores, Marin, and Yepez each gave a presentation on their working areas in Central and South America. Later in the evening, the District Apostle held a town hall meeting for the congregations of Miami Spanish and Cooper City to discuss the future possibilities of these two congregations coming together to form a new flagship congregation. On Sunday the long-awaited divine service for the congregations of Lake Worth Spanish, Miami Spanish, and Miami Spanish South-West took place. The District Apostle appointed a new rector for the Miami Spanish South-West congregation and ordained a Priest.

Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará, Brazil

At the end of August 2015 District Apostle Raúl Montes de Oca visited several congregations in the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará. Among the places he visited were the cities of São Paulo and Fortaleza. Some of the members covered more than a thousand kilometres to be able to attend these divine services. He was able to seal souls in most of the divine services he celebrated. In São Paulo, District Apostle Montes de Oca was joined by the Apostles José Antonio Bonaite and Reinaldo Milczuk, as well as Bishop Eduardo. In one of the divine services the District Apostle familiarized the congregation with a thought from Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider: a story about unnecessary burdens.

Cape Town, South Africa

Rectors’ Day in Cape Town means that the biggest church in the district is required: Tafelsig. All the rectors of the greater part of the District Church Cape converged on the Tafelsig church on 20 September for a divine service by District Apostle Noel Barnes. He based his sermon on Deuteronomy 5: 3, “The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.” The District Apostle reminded his fellow brothers of the covenant they had made with God and encouraged them to keep it.

Following the divine service there was a short break, after which the rectors gathered again to be presented with a strategic plan for the year 2016 and beyond. Spiritual aspects were also addressed and pointers given on godly values and how to lead the congregations.
