Divine service in the southernmost city of the world

Whether at the end of the world, close to the South Pole, or on a small island somewhere in Africa, divine services and fellowship are possible nearly everywhere in the world. All one has to do is get up and go.

Communicating on all channels

There are only 77 days to go before tens of thousands of young Christians will come together for the International Youth Convention (IYC). Participants who will be heading to Düsseldorf can find essential information on the IYC website, on social media, and also in a flyer in their congregation. Now, another means of communication will be added: WhatsApp. The Church will provide clear and precise information via WhatsApp. Video clips and pictures will also be posted. For now, the messenger service will be available in the German language. Other languages will be added as needed. You can register here. The service can be administered with the well-known commands “Start” and “Stop”.

A trip around the world

This is how the New Apostolic Church Western Germany captioned a recent journey by District Apostle Rainer Storck. His trip had taken him to Tahiti, New Caledonia, and East Timor. It was his first trip there and can be summed up as follows: twelve days of travel, 13 flights, 61 hours in the air, 33 hours in transit, and great joy among the members. The small congregation in Tahiti (French Polynesia) is cared for by a Deacon. Four times a year, ministers from New Caledonia travel there for a week and spend time with the members and are there for them. The District Apostle conducted divine services, meetings with ministers, and spent time with the brothers and sisters.

To divine service at top speed

Last week District Apostle John L. Kriel conducted a divine service on Impalila Island. The small island is located in the Zambezi, at the far eastern tip of Namibia on the border with Botswana. The District Apostle landed at Kasane Airport in Botswana at half past one in the afternoon, where he was received by Apostle Patrick Simataa Liwakala and Bishop L. Masule. A boat ride is the only means of transport between Kasane and Impalila. The crossing takes about seven minutes at top speed. Before the group could continue to the church for the divine service, they first had to register with the immigration authorities of Namibia. The border between the two countries closes at half past four in the afternoon so that the District Apostle had to leave in time.

In the southernmost city

Ushuaia, the city at the end of the world, is located at the southern tip of South America. The city is built at the foot of a steep mountain slope. Ushuaia is the gateway to Antarctica, and cruise ships and expeditions set out from here. At the beginning of March 2019, Apostle Claudio González visited the 80 New Apostolic Christians in Ushuaia and celebrated the divine service for the departed with them. He also conducted Holy Sealing and enjoyed fellowship with the congregation.
