A special Christmas gift for Zambia
Reviews and goals for the future, taking stock and planning … these are the organizational tasks that the leaders of the various District Churches are busy with at the end of a year. It was no different in the past year. And while all this was going on, our brothers and sisters in Zambia received a very special Christmas gift.
Questions and Answers published in eleven more languages
District Apostle Charles Ndandula presented his brothers and sisters in Zambia with a very special gift on Christmas: the Catechism of the New Apostolic Church in Questions and Answers. This abridged version of the Catechism has been specifically compiled as a teaching tool, and was published a few months ago—to begin with only in English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Now District Apostle Ndandula has introduced the newest translations in his working area. The book, containing 750 questions and answers, is now available in eleven languages that are spoken in Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe: Bemba, Chewa, Kaonde, Lozi, Luvale, Lunda, Ndebele, Nyanja, Shona, Tumbuka, and Tonga. After the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia is the country with the largest number of members. The Church there numbers over 1.1 million members.
Apostles meet in Zambia
Twenty-five Apostles from Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe gathered in Harare in November 2015 for their annual conference; it was chaired by District Apostle Ndandula. The annual conference serves to inform the Apostles about developments in the District Church as well as developments of the global Church.
On the agenda were points that had also been discussed at the meeting of African District Apostles a few weeks before: the special challenges facing the continent, the African Joy newsletter, and a review of the Pentecost celebrations in Zambia’s capital of Lusaka.
Annual convention in South-East Asia
The management of the District Church South-East Asia also gathered for its annual conference. A total of 48 Apostles, Bishops, and other ministers with responsibilities at the national level, as well as administrative staff, gathered in the city of Debok on the Indonesian island of Java.
“Sustainability for the future; a victory with Christ” was the theme of the convention. “Victory with Christ means to fulfil the will of God,” the District Apostle said in his welcome address. “And that is exactly what we want to do. This concerns the areas of soul care, evangelization, teaching, and administration alike.”
