The Church is building a hospital, Apostles are working on growing together, and young people are occupying themselves with the Catechism—here is a look around the world from Africa to Europe to South America.

Health centre in Zambia

The New Apostolic Church in Zambia is planning to open a health centre in Chisanga in the central region of Mkushi before the year is out. It will include an emergency room, a maternity ward, and a building for employees. During an inspection tour, representatives from both the community and the Church were able to see the status of the construction work and interior design, which is already well underway.

Village elder Jonathan Chindi thanked the Church for having brought the prospect of medical care within reach of the population of Chisanga and the surrounding area. Community Evangelist Tebuho Yubai stressed the Church’s awareness that despite all the pastoral care, the people of the region are still confronted with many social and economic challenges, which must be mastered together. He is the Managing Director of the Henwood Foundation, the aid agency of the New Apostolic Church in Zambia.

Preparing for a merger in Germany

“Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.” It was under this guiding principle from Romans 15: 7 that the Apostles and Bishops of the New Apostolic Churches of Central Germany and Northern Germany gathered for their very first joint meeting. The background: upon District Apostle Wilfried Klingler’s retirement, his working area of Central Germany will be merged with Northern Germany. This will create the largest District Apostle district in Germany in terms of area.

In Hannover, the spiritual leaders introduced themselves to one another and discussed the merger planned for mid-2016. In addition they were informed about the establishment and intermediate results from various work groups that are to provide support in the areas of general administration, construction, finance, and communications as the two districts grow together. The meeting participants were just as happy with the developments to date as they were with the steps that have been planned for the future.

Youth weekend in Brazil

The young members of the city of Carpina enjoyed their first youth weekend in Brazil’s north-eastern state of Pernambuco. Under the direction of Bishop Joseph Genival, a team of young brothers had prepared the way for the event. And by commission of District Apostle Raúl Montes de Oca (Brazil – Bolivia), Apostle Jose Bonaite also travelled to the region from San Pablo.

In addition to cultivating fellowship, the agenda also included a number of sporting competitions and some spiritual reflections. With the help of the Catechism, the young people studied subjects such as the Apostle ministry, life after death, and the sacraments. The divine service with Apostle Bonaite was based on a Bible text from 1 John 4: 1: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.”
