The aid organization of the New Apostolic Church South-East Asia has just released its annual report for 2014. It was a tough, a challenging year, it says. Typhoons, earthquakes, and other natural disasters claimed many lives.

When two compete it can spell trouble … sometimes. But not so with Andrew Andersen and Mark Woll. The two District Apostles have entered a special kind of competition. But they are not the only participants.

They have lost everything: their possessions, their home, and many of their loved ones. More than 50 million people worldwide have been forced from their homes. Tomorrow, 20 June, is World Refugee Day, an occasion for nac.today to take a look at some of the refugee camps in East Africa.

Just two months after the devastating earthquake, the impending monsoon season is just about to make the situation in Nepal even more dramatic. The rains are going to hurt the nearly three million people who have lost their homes the hardest. Following the devastating earthquake in Nepal, acute emergency efforts by international organizations are already in full swing. In the meantime, the aid agencies and District Churches of the New Apostolic Church are getting ready to do their part with the next big wave of help, namely the reconstruction effort.

His profession is land surveyor. As leading pastor and shepherd of the New Apostolic Church East Africa, Joseph Opemba Ekhuya now has a large field of activity to see to. Last weekend he was ordained as District Apostle for the region. But there were more ministerial gifts for the region.

On 19 April 2015, District Apostle Shadreck Lubasi, the head of the New Apostolic Church East Africa, will retire. He served as a minister for nearly 30 years. Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider will be in Dodoma in Tanzania to celebrate this special divine service.

Helping out wherever there is a need, in accordance with the words recorded in the gospel of Matthew: "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink..." Hundreds of thousands have not only lost their homes but also their livelihood. In addition to the United Nations (UN), NAK-karitativ and the Henwood Foundation are on the ground and helping.

Even after the International Church Convention in Munich, which was the highlight for many, there were a lot of other happenings in the New Apostolic Church worldwide. Some of the important and interesting highlights from the second half of the year were as follows.

District Apostle Bernd Koberstein of Germany has been following the recent developments in Niger with a great deal of concern. During violent protests last weekend, dozens of Christian churches were set on fire and at least ten people were killed.

Some 70,000 people have been left homeless as a result of flash-floods, a District Apostle visits a Sunday School class, an Apostle retires, and members in northern Germany are happy about the demolition of an old fire station.

Comfort and solace was offered in a recent concert by the Wilhelmshaven Chamber Choir. It was given in memory of the tsunami in South-East Asia ten years ago. How did those affected by the tsunami, either directly or as helpers, experience the disaster? Following are some personal accounts.
