Faith unites around nine million members of the New Apostolic Church around the world. Many of them who do not have Internet access look forward to receiving a printed copy of the quarterly Church magazine. The latest issue is now on its way to our brothers and sisters.

Before the divine service started, there was a spontaneous vocal number. The American, German, and Australian youth who had travelled to the Pan-American Youth Summit in St. Catherines, Ontario in Canada could hardly wait for the service to begin.

Some congregations in Bolivia are located at altitudes of over 4,000 metres. Hardly any other country is so close to heaven. It is a country that captivates with its geographical diversity. And the members of the Church are as diverse as the country itself.

Members of various congregations in Africa, Europe, and South America had reason to celebrate in recent weeks. They marked the occasions with music, a play, or a ferry crossing to an island.

In the Bible text the Chief Apostle used, Jesus Christ confirms His return to the church, and the believers confirm that they believe in it and are preparing for it. In a recent service, the Chief Apostle explained what this means.

“The District Apostle has confidence in you and I have confidence in you,” Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider said to the latest member of the international Church leadership.

“This divine service is a service for our congregation,” the Chief Apostle said. “Your congregation and my congregation. The subject is love among us, among New Apostolic Christians.”

Prayer works and prayers are answered. But how? Jesus Christ explained this on various occasions. The Chief Apostle recently took a very close look at one of these explanations. It deals with the aspects of election, fruit, and names.

Dominique Makindu survived an armed ambush, was arrested and thrown in prison, and later died on the way to a divine service. The Apostle’s life was fraught with danger. Thirty years ago today, 4 September, he received the Apostle ministry.

Those who practise the Christian faith will not only be concerned about their own salvation. After all, Jesus wants to help all human beings. And “the more His wish, the more His desire, grows in us, the more we too will want to contribute to the salvation of our neighbour,” said the Chief Apostle.

As God does to me, so I do to you. That is the whole secret to loving your neighbour. And you can practise this in a very concrete way: for example, in the way we forgive, judge, and give. This is how Jesus preaches directly into the here and now.
