Lockdown, bans on assembly, no divine services—in many places, believers cannot gather together in the church. For them the offer of divine service by video continues.

Wherever possible, Christians gather together as a congregation: they worship God, give thanks and praise, listen to the word of God in the sermon, and celebrate Holy Communion. If this is not possible—for various reasons—the church comes to the believer: central video divine services celebrated all around the world and published on YouTube make it all possible. In addition, there are telephone and television broadcasts in many countries, made possible by the local churches.

Some time ago Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider reported about the joy and enthusiasm he felt at his first gathering with believers after the lockdown: “I admit that the context was somewhat distracting at first,” he relates in his circular to the Apostles regarding distancing and hygiene regulations, “but we were quick to forget about that given the joy we felt at seeing one another, celebrating Holy Communion together, and celebrating Holy Communion for the departed.” And: “I wish that all of you may very soon feel the same joy that I did in Merlebach on that Sunday.”
