New beginnings and farewells: changes in the circle of Apostles

In May 2026, the New Apostolic Church International numbered 366 active Apostles. Since November 2025, the apostolate has grown by two District Apostles and sixteen Apostles. 

The District Apostle Area Northern and Eastern Germany received a new District Apostle in December 2025. Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider appointed District Apostle Helper David Allan Heynes as District Apostle to succeed Rüdiger Krause, who retired. His area of responsibility includes Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greenland, Ireland, Iceland, the Isle of Man, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Northern and Eastern Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the United Kingdom, and Belarus. 

District Apostle Enrique Eduardo Minio from South America retired in March 2026. Herman Ernst, formerly a District Apostle Helper, has taken over from him and now serves Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. 

Changes in Africa 

Mozambique has four newly ordained Apostles: Ireneu Armando Cardoso Bagão, Victorino Limpar, Amisse Alberto Napula, and Miguel Francisco Sardinha. The Apostles Ernesto Atucumana, Agostinho Albino Dzimba, and Lourenço Mutano Naueta have retired. 

In Botswana, Apostle Curdwell Mukwati retired. And in Kenya, Apostle John Ngaga Dianga also retired, and Collince Otieno Nyabute was ordained as his successor. 

At the beginning of the year, Malawi welcomed two new Apostles: Kondwani Dokiso Chisi and Samson Golah Mwanza. Apostle Owen John Lyson Kayira retired at the end of 2025. 

In Zambia, four new Apostles were ordained: Joseph Kampamba Kenya, Martin Mutondo, Wisdom Shanengeta, and Steven Sikobela. Apostle Richard Nguvulu Kasoma retired from active ministry. In Senegal, Apostle Francisco Diong Gomis also entered retirement. 

The members in Angola had to bid a painful farewell to Apostle João Alberto Lufungula, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 6 February 2026 while serving in active ministry. 

Changes on three continents 

In Northern and Eastern Germany, Mike Gunter Dietel succeeded Apostle Ralf Jürgen Wittich, who retired. In Southern Germany, Daniel Habich was ordained as an Apostle. 

Brazil was delighted to welcome Marcos Eli Alves, who was ordained as an Apostle in March. In Argentina, Apostles Claudio Rubén Gonzáles and José Antonio Bonaite retired at the end of March, and Diego Hernán Batista was ordained as an Apostle. 

In Papua New Guinea, Nicky Kundiliski was ordained as an Apostle. In Thailand, Apostle Fred Wolf went into retirement at the beginning of May.
