Radiant yellow against blue water and a blue sky: this boat is not for leisure, but for making a living. Here is the story behind the picture.
The NACSEA RELIEF has set sail, shining as brightly as the sun. This fishing boat will provide a family on the Philippine island of Masapelid with a sustainable means of livelihood and an opportunity to build a more secure future.
Right from the start, the fisherman—now the proud owner of the boat—was actively involved in the project, painting and installing boat parts. The initiative was launched by the aid organisation NACSEA Relief, with the boat’s construction made possible through the support of partner organisations and donors. “More than a fishing boat, this project represents hope, opportunity, and a step toward greater self-reliance for a family,” says the aid organisation.
