A busy year for NACSEARelief

The aid organization of the New Apostolic Church South-East Asia has just released its annual report for 2014. It was a tough, a challenging year, it says. Typhoons, earthquakes, and other natural disasters claimed many lives.

“The New Apostolic Church Philippines is very thankful for having so many donors worldwide, taking an interest in our country.”

Help and Christian love

NACSEARelief – is the name of the aid organization of the New Apostolic Church in South-East Asia. In keeping with the motto from Galatians 6: 10, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith,” the organization aims to help and provide assistance to all people within its reach as well as the Church’s own congregations.

District Apostle Urs Hebeisen, the founder and president of the aid organization, writes in his foreword, “We are thankful and humbly proud for the work which was done during the year 2014 with the help of many Christian friends around the world whom I also want to call ‘friends of the Philippines’.” He continues, “God will bless what has been done out of love for one’s neighbour because it belongs to the fundamental divine commandments. Putting our resources and skills together we will also accomplish much in the future.” He closes it with MARAMING SALAMAT PO With love at work—the 2014 motto of the New Apostolic Church.

Bopha

Pablo, or Bopha, was the name of the devastating typhoon that made landfall in December 2012. Alone among the New Apostolic people in Compostela Valley, a province on Mindanao, there were more a thousand people who were left homeless. Fourteen churches were destroyed. NACSEARelief started a massive relief operation at the time, bringing in much-needed food, clothing, and other basic needs. The organization supported the Philippine Red Cross and started with the rebuilding of the churches.

In another phase, the focus was put on rebuilding the schools in the area. Ten new classroom in four different schools were rebuilt and turned over the Department of Education. Our photos show the new school buildings and the refurbished classrooms.

7.2 on the Richter scale. On 15 October 2014 an earthquake rocked Bohol and destroyed ten church buildings. An additional 32 homes collapsed. The aid organization jumped in to help. The pictures are an impressive testimony of the before and after situations.

Haiyan

In late November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan (we reported) hit land. It was the strongest storm yet to make landfall and it was deadly. More than 6,000 people were killed. NACSEARelief was able to provide emergency relief to 2,000 families, and in the year 2014 it assisted with the rebuilding of churches, homes, community centres, health centres, and schools. Alone these rebuilding efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan swallowed more than 70 per cent of all donated funds.

Network of New Apostolic aid organizations

Other New Apostolic aid organizations who assisted with financial contributions in the year 2014 are NAK-humanitas (Austria), NAK-karitativ (Germany), the aid organizations of the New Apostolic Churches in Switzerland and Southern Germany, the New Apostolic Church Canada, and the aid organization of the New Apostolic Church Indonesia.
