2025 in review: the top videos of the year

Music is very popular in the New Apostolic Church. But in 2025, a particular announcement from the altar made it into the top three most frequently viewed videos on nac.today.

There were certainly some high-decibel moments during the Pentecost divine service in Wiesbaden. However, the locally reinforced Youth Celebration Choir was also capable of singing more quietly. So it was that their performance of “Lord, I stretch my hands to You” took the top spot among the video hits of 2025 by a wide margin.

The next most popular clip offers viewers a glance back into history. It was in the month of May twenty years ago that Chief Apostle Richard Fehr handed over the reins of Church leadership to his successor. In this video interview, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber reveals the details of how this came about:

A historical announcement follows hard on the heels of the previous video: Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider plans to retire on Pentecost 2026. This is something he announced during the Pentecost divine service of 2025—before also going on to name his successor: 

The most frequently watched clip from a divine service in 2025 comes from the newly assigned Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler. Even if you feel completely lost, no one is forgotten—because there is One who goes out after everyone:

But otherwise, it was the music that set the tone, for example, with the “South African medley” by the NAC Young People’s Choir during a combined concert in Cape Town with Western Germany’s Youth Orchestra and Friends:

And then there was also the popular clip of a children’s choir performing “Yesu Nafyalwa Ilelo”, an Advent hymn in the Bemba tongue—one of the seven most important languages in Zambia—which shot up into the top ten most-viewed videos within the space of just a few days:
