Listen to it

An experienced Apostle with an international profile is going to become the new District Apostle for Northern and Eastern Germany: David Heynes not only brings two passports to the table, but also a great deal of spiritual experience and linguistic diversity.

On 16 June 2025, District Apostle Rüdiger Krause informed the ministers of the New Apostolic Church of Northern and Eastern Germany of a decisive change: on 17 August 2025, Apostle David Heynes will be assigned a District Apostle Helper by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider in the congregation of Hannover-List.

With this decision, the leaders of the Church are responding to a far-reaching change in the leadership team—namely the recent assignment of the hitherto District Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler as Chief Apostle Helper on Pentecost.

An international profile

Born on 24 March 1965 in Great Britain, David Allan Heynes grew up in a New Apostolic household. At the age of 32 he moved to Zurich, Switzerland for professional reasons. There he worked as a sales manager for a software company. During this time, he also served as a translator for the District Apostle Meetings. In 2004, he returned to the south of England with his family.
David Allan Heynes received his first ministry in 1986 when he was ordained a Sub-deacon. After he had served in further ministries over the years, Chief Apostle Schneider ordained him an Apostle in Nottingham, United Kingdom, in 2018. Since 2019, Apostle Heynes has been involved as a Divine Service Guide author in one of the Church’s international work groups.

Connected by language

A citizen of both the UK and Switzerland, the Apostle currently lives near London. From there, he will not only continue to work in the areas he already serves, but will also care for the rest of the Regional Church of Northern and Eastern Germany, as well as Russia. Perhaps even more important than his logistical connections are his linguistic and cultural flexibility. Whether in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Iceland and Greenland, or Scandinavia, Apostle Heynes has always been close to the brothers and sisters, even those in small congregations. And he will continue to do so. District Apostle Krause writes as follows, “The future District Apostle Helper can already begin working intensively throughout the entire working area. I will be working very closely with him.”

Listening, helping along, supporting

As District Apostle Helper, David Heynes will support the District Apostle, travelling with him, conducting divine services, visiting congregations, and leading meetings. His new role is a service to the community, namely to connect, support, and look ahead. And it is a service with a future: considering that District Apostle Krause will retire in the foreseeable future, the question of his successorship has now been settled. Until then, the goal will be for the two men to work together for the Regional Church of Northern and Eastern Germany.
