A lullaby fills the room while paper hearts bearing names are placed around a large heart: “And He knows and cares for you.” A gentle introduction to the divine service for the departed.
The lullaby “Can you count the stars in heaven?” was performed by an instrumental ensemble at the opening of a devotional in November 2024. Its message reminds us that God knows and counts not only all the stars in the sky, but also every child—because He loves them.
“SternenLicht” (Light of the stars) was the name of a special devotional in Hanau, Germany, dedicated to babies who died before, during, or shortly after birth.
The entire day was devoted to exploring how parents and their families can find and walk a gentle path from grief towards comfort. Remembrance and intercession are also part of this journey—symbolised by the paper hearts, each bearing a child’s name or a short message, that were arranged around a large heart in front of the altar.
