Lit tea-lights in the shape of a heart in Luxembourg, flowers and a “Pray for Paris” banner in Germany: the terror attacks last Friday in Paris have left people in shock, especially in Europe. But the District Apostles are also directing attention beyond Europe’s borders, to other parts of the world.

Believing in Jesus Christ is not all that easy. After all, His gospel contains more than one stumbling block. This is what the Chief Apostle made clear in a recent divine service, listing seven stumbling blocks and a guiding principle.

Globalization even has an effect on liturgical implements. The communion cups used in our New Apostolic congregations are globally sourced these days. One manufacturer from whom the Church buys is in the state of Tamil Nadu in India.

He rendered the church a great service, even though it took a long time before it was acknowledged. Millions of Christians believe his tenets today. Traces of Martin Luther are also found in the divine services of the New Apostolic Church, such as elements of our liturgy or the Luther Bible, the German language Bible translation—a landmark in German literature. This past Sunday, 25 October 2015, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider conducted a divine service in our central church in Buenos Aires in Argentina, in which he placed District Apostle Norberto Passuni into retirement. District Apostle Helper Enrique Eduardo Minio was ordained to succeed him as District Apostle for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

God in His love made a covenant with man. In a divine service in Auckland recently, the Chief Apostle drew parallels between the people at the time of Moses and us today, and emphasized how important our faith in the sacrifice of Jesus and in His return is. He also addressed the importance of Holy Communion.

The New Apostolic Church is active in almost all countries on all continents. Africa is home to the majority of members. Countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia top the list. At its recent conference in Johannesburg, the District Apostle Meeting made a slight adjustment to the worldwide membership figures.

In the archives of the New Apostolic Church, there are extensive travel reports of Chief Apostle Ernst Streckeisen’s journeys between 1975 and 1978. Today, Ernst Streckeisen would have been 110 years old.

Are we still on the right way? The way is determined by the goal we want to reach. How good if there are signs along the path. But we also have to be able to understand them. In a recent youth service, the Chief Apostle explained some of the signs.

Living where other people spend their holidays … This is the case for many New Apostolic Christians too. Yet they do the same as everybody else and go about their daily lives. Following is a glimpse at the normal day-to-day life in three different District Churches.

“He was a young and deeply faithful man of God with vision,” District Apostle (ret.) Brinkmann describes his friend and companion, Sukami Landu Ronsard, the first Angolan Apostle. He died on 27 August 1989 at the age of 31 in an ambush by rebels. Thirty years ago to the day, Apostle Ronsard was ordained as an Apostle.
