Victory with Christ! What are our chances? Who is our ally? And what can we do when things go wrong? Answers from District Apostle Enrique Eduardo Minio from Argentina.
As children of God we have been called to conquer death and to have eternal fellowship with our heavenly Father. This is challenging, but there will be a reward: “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son” (Revelation 21: 7).
Opening doors requires strength
Chief Apostle Leber once explained that a victory is like a door. Sometimes it takes quite an effort to open it. If we are victorious in our faith—in other words, if we step over the threshold of this door—we will experience the fulness of God. His blessing will make us rich!
Not all our wishes and ideas will be fulfilled, of course. But God wants to bless us in joy and in suffering. And our heavenly Father will not leave us alone in our battle to gain eternal life. He is with us each and every day. All we have to do is look for Him. We do not have to wait until tomorrow to experience the blessing of God; it is right there for us today already. God’s blessing translates to divine strength. God has promised us His help and support. When? Every time we are on a path on which He can bless us.
An ambitious goal
Are we ready to gain the victory? This is a question we all have to answer individually. Are we ready to do what needs to be done so that we can open the door to victory? If our answer is yes, then we are also prepared to battle every day until the Lord returns.
Let us ask ourselves:
How do we approach every day? Do we see every situation as a chance to gain the victory? Or are we overwhelmed by it? Let us see every situation that we come up against as a new chance for us to gain a victory!
Whom do we choose as our ally in the battle? When it comes to our battle of faith we should have no alternative plans. Our way is the way of the gospel. We believe in Jesus Christ and trust in God. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord” (Jeremiah 17: 7). Let us choose God as our only ally.
What can we do if we stray off the path of God’s blessing and fail to fulfil His will? Learning from our own mistakes helps us in our fight against this and to be victorious with Christ. Let us come to the Lord’s altar in search of His help, and repent and humble ourselves as we seek the forgiveness of our sins and fellowship with Jesus Christ. Then we will be able to overcome, because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (cf. Philippians 4: 13). Holy Communion guarantees us life and fellowship with the Son of God. Through His body and blood Jesus Christ shares His nature with us—which is characterized by His perfect power to overcome—so that we can live and gain the victory with Jesus Christ. Let us recognize our mistakes and reconcile with God and our neighbour, then we will have peace in our lives.
