Listen to it

The articles featuring the weekly links for the online services on Sunday have cracked the one hundred mark. For the hundredth time, nac.today publishes its weekly article with the links to this weekend’s video services.

Transmissions of divine services have a long tradition in the New Apostolic Church. A few decades ago, the Church was still broadcasting its services via postal cable. Then, on a trip to the United States, Chief Apostle Hans Urwyler conducted a divine service that was transmitted by video. In 1983 the Church succeeded in transmitting its first audio-visual service via directional radio. On Pentecost 1990 then, satellite transmissions made their debut. Brothers and sisters in 830 congregations were able to follow the broadcast of the service.

Technology bridges physical distances

Thanks to the existing technology, the New Apostolic Church was to respond quickly and switch to online services when in-person services were no longer allowed. At first, only a few isolated congregations that were already equipped as transmission congregations were able to broadcast services, but soon other congregations set up video equipment in their churches and joined the broadcasting community. nac.today, however, only publishes the official links of the Regional Churches.

Blunders and Co.

There have been blunders along the way. One Friday article was published without the links. Another appeared without the lead photo. And because our servers were moved recently, the PDFs could be seen, but could not be opened at first. However, the nac.today team was always quick with fixing any bugs. Dozens of emails were sent to our IT support, who thankfully postponed the start of their weekend.

A team effort

In the end, it is a team effort that allows us to watch the livestream of a church service on Sundays. For almost two years now, thanks to the hard work of many tech-savvy brothers and sisters, it has been possible for divine services to be beamed into people’s homes.
