The new and final issue of community for 2025 is ready. It features a colourful mix of impulses, stories, and news from around the New Apostolic world.
The issue features a review of the 2025 Pentecost divine service. Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider’s sermon was based on John 16: 13: “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.” The focus of the divine service was on the effectiveness of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works in the church of Christ, leads us to knowledge, and reveals the truth: the truth about God and ourselves. God is love. His truth is the gospel and eternal life. He shows us our weaknesses but also helps us discover our gifts. He guides us on how to follow Christ because true Christians want to please God and become like Jesus instead of asserting themselves.
Additional reports of divine services from Africa, South America, and Australia are featured as well, and look at subjects such as God’s way to salvation, the mission and attitudes of believers in the work of God, as well as a life of gratitude to honour the sacrifice of Christ.
For young and old
For the youngest members of the Church there is a beautifully illustrated double-page spread that tells the story of the birth of Jesus. It is well suited for reading aloud, and the children can even count the sheep with which the shepherds were probably travelling.
Readers will also meet thirteen-year-old Joshua from Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands. He introduces himself and his family and talks about his congregation and hobbies. He also tells us a little about his life and speculates as to why the people on the island of Guernsey are called les ânes: the donkeys.
In a doctrinal article “Repentance and the path to salvation”, the Chief Apostle reinterprets the word repentance and views it more in terms of problem awareness and reorientation.
News from around the world
In May, the International District Apostle Meeting convened in Mainz, Germany. Many different projects were on the agenda with the aim of strengthening the ministers, but also teachers, musicians, and church life altogether.
The Youth Orchestra & Friends from the New Apostolic Church Western Germany takes the readers on a ten-day trip to South Africa. The trip combined musical achievement with community outreach. Readers are given an idea of the activities surrounding the rehearsals and the concert with the NAC Young People’s Choir in front of an audience of over 4,500. In a four-page interview, Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler recalls his early years as a minister in the New Apostolic Church and reveals openly and honestly what he thinks, feels, and believes. Pastoral care is a topic that is very close to his heart, and he is an absolute fan of a “colourful field of flowers”.
