“At home worldwide” is the motto set out in the logo of nac.today. This will also be the title of our weekly overview, in which we will look at the happenings among our brothers and sisters around the world.

A congregational anniversary in Zambia

The Kanyama congregation in Zambia celebrated its 40th anniversary. About one thousand members attended, among them many senior ministers─both active and retired─who worked in Kanyama. Apostle Donald Kalyangu conducted this festive service. In his sermon he paid tribute to the founding members of the congregation, most of whom have already passed away. “The successes that were scored in the founding years ensured that the work endures to this day,” he said. The church in Kanyama was dedicated in October 1974 by District Apostle Andrew James Fernandes.

Divine service in Hong Kong

Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider visited the small congregation in Hong Kong. The service was also attended by fifty members from China. The Chief Apostle was delighted that he was able to meet the Apostles and Bishops from China: it was the first time. From Hong Kong, the Chief Apostle continued on to the Philippines.

Two new Bishops in Canada

The first divine service of 2015 in Canada was held by District Apostle Mark Woll in the Kitchener Central congregation in Kitchener, Ontario. The service was transmitted across Canada. It was a special occasion. District Apostle Woll ordained two new Bishops for Canada: Sam Mueller und Jamie Apfelbeck. This ordination was the first that fell under a new regulation that takes effect 1 January 2015: As a general rule, the Chief Apostle will delegate the ordination and retirement of Bishops to the responsible District Apostle.

Church dedication in Zambia

A church was dedicated in Kamenza, Copperbelt Province, Zambia. The dedication was attended by 3,200 members. It was held by District Apostles Charles Ndandula. He was accompanied by the Apostles responsible for this region of Zambia. There has been a congregation in Kamenza since 1989. For many years, the members gathered for services in the local public school. After negotiations with the municipal government, an agreement was reached for a new church building. Construction began in August 2014 and was completed by the end of December 2014. The performances by several choirs and an orchestra gave the occasion a festive and solemn touch.
