Right in the middle of things
Right in the middle of things, and thus in the public eye, is how the New Apostolic Church presented itself over the last few days. The Coro Italiano of the New Apostolic Church Southern Germany—a choir that sings in Italian—sang at the opening ceremony of the Stuttgart Christmas market. Their performance at the annual Christmas market has become a tradition over the years.
The angklung orchestra of the New Apostolic Church in Bandung in Indonesia—which is well known from the 2014 International Church Convention in Munich—and the choir from the congregation in Jakarta performed at the interdenominational concert in Jakarta organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Interdenominational dialogue
The New Apostolic Church has taken up its place in the ecumenical dialogue with various Christian denominations. The local chapter of the Working Group of Christian Churches (ACK) in Cologne in Germany has decided to grant the New Apostolic congregations guest membership. And District Apostle Wolfgang Nadolny was invited to the annual convention of the Committee for Religious Affairs in Uzbekistan in Central Asia. In addition to Islam, Christian churches, Jewish communities, and Buddhists were represented at the convention.
Car smashes into church wall
The New Apostolic Church showed itself from its pragmatic side after a driver smashed into our church in Antwerp in Belgium. The New Apostolic Church Netherlands reports about this on its website. An alleged drunk driver had broken through a wall in the underground parking garage of the building, a combined residential and church complex. The residents had to be evacuated until it was clear that the building was not in danger of collapsing. Such damage is covered by insurance, the Church says. There have been considerations to build an additional emergency exit for some time. This is something that may now be carried out in the course of the repair work that has to be done.
