Spotlight 4/2019: Increasing wealth
District Apostle Michael Ehrich (Germany) opens up three additional perspectives on this year’s motto and shows how wealth in Christ can grow.
Part of our spiritual wealth is being safe. What gives us a sense of security in daily life? For example, being able to live in peace, being part of a strong community, and being able to rely on what others promise.
Let us transfer this to the spiritual.
- Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, endowed His Apostles with His peace. If we receive Him in His current ambassadors, we will find true peace. His peace is conveyed to us after the forgiveness of sins and in the benediction. We also feel peace when, time and again, we decide to follow Christ unconditionally and look up to the Lord confidently, entrusting ourselves to Him entirely.
- We are part of the strongest community there is: the fellowship with the triune God. It proceeds from the Holy Spirit. In the benediction, God the Holy Spirit gives us the assurance that we are incorporated into the fellowship with God the Father, the very source of love, and God the Son, who grants us His grace.
- The divine promises are the most solid foundation we could ever build on. The promise of Jesus: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28: 20) applies to all of us. Day in, day out it gives us a new sense of security until, at Christ’s return, we will experience the other great promise given us and enter into direct and eternal fellowship with Him (John 14: 3).
If we make these divine promises the very core of our lives, our wealth in Christ will never cease to increase in our eyes.
