A District Apostle Helper for Western Germany

The new man has already demonstrated leadership qualities: both in the Church and in his working life. He also has pastoral qualities. This is what companions say. They are convinced: the New Apostolic Church Western Germany can look forward to its District Apostle Helper.

District Apostle Rainer Storck announced who the new District Apostle Helper would be in a central divine service on 6 November: “In agreement with the Chief Apostle, I have informed the Apostles and Bishops that Apostle Stefan Pöschel will be appointed District Apostle Helper in December 2022.” The 54-year-old will assist him with his extensive tasks and thus also relieve him of some of his workload.

Stefan Pöschel has only been an Apostle since 30 June 2019. Since this ordination he has been active in the northern area of the Regional Church of Western Germany. Previously, he headed the Dortmund-North district for thirteen years and was involved in the merger of the three Dortmund districts.

Trust in God

Now he will be active in the entire District Apostle Area: “When our District Apostle first disclosed his future plans in the spring of this year, I got quite a shock,” the Apostle says. “A time of many thoughts, feelings, and prayers followed this until today.”

His wife, Siegrun, to whom he has been married since 1993, and his two children support him. “We hope and trust that our great God will help just as powerfully as He has done throughout our lives,” says the designated District Apostle Helper. “I want to support our District Apostle and all those entrusted to my care in deep humility and at the same time in great joy.”

Committed to green technology

Stefan Pöschel brings a lot of management experience with him: he is managing director in the environmental technology sector, he oversees waste management companies, and heads a regional waste recycling company. In addition to waste disposal, his field of activity also includes the generation of electricity and district heating.

Since April 2019, he has been managing director of several power plants and waste incineration plants. Stefan Pöschel performs his Apostle ministry in an honorary and unpaid capacity. His scope of activity, therefore, did not include any of the countries served, such as in Eastern Europe or Africa.

Interested, positive, communicative

The Bishop whom he works with, Peter Johanning, has only had positive experiences with him: “He is an extraordinarily kind person who is very interested in the fate of others. He likes to listen and is an exceptionally optimistic person.” Bishop Johanning is happy about the new District Apostle Helper: “He is receptive, communicative, and quick to understand.”

The District Apostle Area looks after congregations and members in more than 40 countries. One of the countries in Rainer Storck’s working area is Angola. The District Apostle already has a District Apostle Helper in this huge country: Apostle João Uanuque Misselo (1965).
