Make your faith known!
Proclaiming the gospel—in a nursing home, through charitable deeds, or by music. Sometimes it’s very loud, and sometimes it seems very quiet. Following are some examples from Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Go into all the world
Mark 16: 15 (“Go into all the world”…) was interpreted a little differently this time: the New Apostolic congregation of Greiz, Germany proclaimed the gospel in close proximity to a nursing home. On 18 August 2024, congregational rector Dirk Mörchel conducted an open air divine service in front of the “Haus Kolin” nursing home. Many residents and family members, caregivers and members of the New Apostolic Congregation in Greiz came to the newly designed outdoor complex. The music was provided by a brass ensemble, which played well-known pieces to which everyone happily sang along. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a barbecue and chatted together until it started to rain.
Charity in practice
The NAC SEA Relief organisation in Region XII of the Philippines set a positive example of faith in early August. The employees practised charity by supporting 243 small farmers in twelve villages of the Tiboli tribe. In cooperation with the ministry of agriculture, the aid organisation not only distributed maize seed, but also shared tips on how to manage the farm so that the farmers can achieve the best possible yields.
In musical commemoration
In preparation for the service for the departed, the members of the Stellenbosch District Voluntary Choir of South Africa organised a concert. The event took place on 30 June 2024 in the Valley congregation. With songs such as “Be consoled, ye redeemed” and “Forth, forth my heart to heaven”, arranged by Wesley Petersen, they created a special atmosphere in which to remember the departed.
Fired up in faith
As part of the plenary assembly of the Ecumenical Youth Council of Austria on 12 June 2024, the Ecumenical Fire was passed on to the young people of the New Apostolic Church in Austria. Over the first half of 2024, it was the Catholic youth of Austria who were in charge of keeping the Ecumenical Fire burning. During this space of time, they organised a meeting with Catholic Auxiliary Bishop Turnovsky, along with a number of other events. The young people of the New Apostolic Church in Austria, who have represented the New Apostolic youth in the Ecumenical Youth Council of Austria since 2012, are now planning activities such as youth discussion evenings, youth services, and other ecumenical activities.
